Reena Ready To Serve In New Role As Deacon

Six deacons and a priest were ordained during a church service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Suva yesterday.

Among the ordained deacons was Reena Prasad who hails from Nasilai, Nausori, and currently serves with her husband at the St Matthews Anglican Church in Nabua.

“It has been an emotional day for me and I feel so blessed to have been able to make it this far,” she said.

“When my husband was ordained as a deacon many years back, my late mother used to always tell me that one day I will become a mother of a church and I look back now and realize that she was already giving me her continued blessing before she passed away,” she said.

The mother of two also works at the Suva Judiciary and has found her calling to serve people with love and care no matter what background they come from.

Her husband Reverend Umesh Prasad is also the Co-Vicar General at their church.

The other newly-ordained deacons were Lusi Luvuri, Epeli Tukana, Alena Bau, Pateresio Nunu, and Rusiate Teifolau. The new-ordained priest was Amenatave Rakanace.
