Top American performers will be on stage in Suva this weekend for a free concert.
Tony Wilson who has performed with Michael Jackson and mostly with James Brown, lead man for the band Foreigner Kelly Hansen, Richard Waters of the Sweet Waters Band and a host of local musicians will be performing at Albert Park in Suva.
This is an initiative by the owner of Yaqara Waters, Robert Bishop.
Mr Bishop who is a musician himself said Fiji can teach the world lessons about peace and harmony.
He said the concert features big names in the music industry. He said while it would be entertaining, there would be messages about saving the environment.
Performer Tony Wilson has been performing with James Brown for a long time.
He sang James Brown’s songs because he never sang a song his mother would not be able to listen to.
Mr Wilson’s presence on stage is more than similar to James Brown’s.
Kelly Hansen the current lead singer of the band Foreigner and formerly of the Hurricanes is also looking forward to performing in the concert.
Mr Bishop also announced that he would be supporting a local seven’s circuit organised by Uprising Events.
Games organiser Robert Kauvesi said this circuit which would be announced later and would have the biggest prize purse ever for a local tournament designed for local teams only.
He said entry would be free for teams who would come to the concert dressed in their rugby gear and team jerseys.
Mr Bishop said rugby was religion in Fiji and he was proud to help the nation with a sport that united the nation.
The teams will also get a close up view of the concert. It is planned for Saturday, however, Mr Bishop said it could be delayed by a day because of stage arrangements.
He wants Suva to feel good.
